Hola,
Bienvenid@s a nuestro blog. Somos Susana y João y aquí expresamos todo lo que nos gusta compartir, y aún así muchas cosas quedan pendientes.
Somos amantes de la Naturaleza y colocamos siempre el bienestar vegetal, animal y del medio ambiente por encima de nuestros intereses o placeres. Somos deportistas y veganos. Sí, es posible ser vegano y tener máximo rendimiento deportivo :-) Nos encanta la montaña, sobre todo el alpinismo y la escalada, somos fieles al puro estilo alpino. Buscamos en nuestras actividades el compromiso con responsabilidad, por eso nos preparamos para estar a la altura de los desafíos que nos proponemos. Además de las alturas, hace poco descubrimos el increíble mundo subterráneo con la espeleología y el mundo bajo el agua con el buceo.
Creemos que es imposible separar la vida personal de la profesional, es además un error hacerlo. Todas somos la suma de nuestras partes, de todo lo que hacemos y nos rodea, ¿por qué separarlo? Nos hemos formado como investigadoras en ciencias de la vida, específicamente en bioquímica estructural. Estudiamos el comportamiento estructural de las proteínas en las células; ¿para qué? Así podremos descubrir cómo funcionan los mecanismos que regulan la célula y, como consecuencia, las enfermedades. Esa es nuestra contribución para la sociedad.
Nos encanta, cómo no, viajar. Viajar de forma responsable y con máximo respeto por los lugares que visitamos, ya sea en una ciudad, pueblo, montaña, cueva o bajo el agua. Viajar es distinto de hacer turismo. Viajar es dejarte pintar por la cultura vecina, es compartir la tuya, es haber estado sin dejar huella.
Con todo esto somos apasionados por la fotografía, la pintura y el ajedrez. Son pequeñas expresiones de nuestra vena artística (con todo el respeto a los artistas de verdad!).
Creemos en la colaboración social. Como parte de esa colaboración creemos en las micro-donaciones, porque que si todos diéramos 1€ al mes a los proyectos en que creemos, esos proyectos podrían lograr algo muy grande sin que eso significara un coste para los voluntarios. Por eso contribuimos para Wikipedia, el proyecto de conservación Refugio de Vida Silvestre Laguna Urpiano, Asociación Juvenil Tronada, WWF y Avaaz entre otros.

Hi,
Welcome to our blog. We are Susana and João and here we express everything that we enjoy sharing, and still so many things stay unposted.
We love nature, and we advocate flora and fauna well-being above our own interests and activities. We are sportswoman/man and we are vegan. Yes, it’s possible to be vegan and have maximum sport performance :-) We love mountains and mountaineering, mostly alpine and climbing, we try to honour the pure alpine style. We look for commitment in our outdoors activities, for that we keep preparing ourselves for the challenges we take. Additionally to altitude, we have recently discovered the incredible underground and underwater worlds with speleology and scuba diving, so sometimes we go negative altitude and high pressure :-P
We think that it’s impossible to separate personal from professional life, actually, it’s an error trying to do so. We are the sum of all our parts, of everything we do and surrounds us, why separating it? We have graduated as researchers in life sciences, specifically in structural biochemistry. We study the structural behaviour of proteins which are the machinery of cells. For what you may ask? In this way we can discover what are the regulatory mechanisms of cells and hence of diseases. That is our contribution to society.
Obviously, we love travelling. Travelling responsibly with maximum respect for the places we visit, either it is a city, a village, a mountain, a cave or underwater Posidonia plains. Travelling is different than tourism. Travelling is letting yourself be painted by your neighbour culture, share yours, is having been there without leaving a mark.
With all that, we are enthusiasts of photography, painting and chess. These are little vehicles to express our artistic vein (with all the respect to true artists out there:-)
We believe in social cooperation. As part of that cooperation, we believe in the power of micro-donations; if all of us were to give a single 1€ each month to the projects we trust, those projects would have the means to achieve something great without a big effort from the donors. For that reason we regularly contribute to Wikipedia, the turtle conservation project «Refugio de Vida Silvestre Laguna Urpiano» in Costa Rica, youth association «Tronada» in Barcelona, WWF, Avaaz and others.
